Jacky Boehm

My work began as a contemplation on cycles of transformation and the stages of change that often go unseen. We tend to understand change through its beginning and end points, but rarely through the uncertain space in between. I am interested in giving form to that middle state, the moment when a form is shifting into something new.

Through my paintings, figures merge with ornamental wrought iron forms, naturalistic structures, and fields of light. These elements trace the relationship between the constructed and natural worlds, and a place within two consuming forces.

The abstract color fields beneath these forms are reflections of the process itself: uncertainty and natural movement. Working with highly fluid acrylics, I allow the paint to move, pool, and form its own shape across the raw canvas. This abstraction becomes a space where transformation can take place.
